The race was settled as the women’s trio pulled away from the field early in the race. Kenya’s Obiri scored the decisive kick on goal to win the second Great North run. Compatriot Jeptirchir finished his 67:07, two seconds behind him, and Ayana three seconds behind him, his 67:10.
