Tim Allen calls Jay Leno’s health ‘handsome and happy’

To Mona Khalifeh‍, ETOnline.com.

Jay Leno manages to pull it off with some help from his friends!

ET spoke to Tim Allen, a longtime friend of the former “Tonight Show” host. He visited Leno at his center Grossman Barn in West Hills. His classic car in his garage in Burbank last weekend. A fuel leak from the car caused gasoline to splatter in his face and hands, causing an explosion and setting the comedian on fire.

Not only does Leno feel better, he looks great, according to Allen, and the 72-year-old comedian is ‘handsome’ and ‘happy’ despite the terrifying incident, telling ET the ‘Santa Claus’ actor .

“Jay good! He’s feeling better. We bring him some car mags and joke around and that’s what we do. His face Allen quipped, “You’d be surprised because he dresses like George Clooney. He’s handsome, he’s happy, and the hospital is taking care of him.” doing a great job on

ET also spoke with Leno’s surgeon, Dr. Peter Grossman, about Leno’s condition and the road to recovery following one of his surgeries last week.

Leno suffered “serious injuries” in the accident, and while he doesn’t want to downplay the seriousness of the injury, Grossman said he also wanted to highlight that Leno is “doing very well.”

“He’s got a very strong attitude. He’s a very strong individual,” Grossman said. “And he’s someone who really wants to move on and is trying to find a way to get through this episode of his life and do what he usually wants to do: go out and entertain and be together. I’m trying to find a way to get back to things people I think he’ll get there soon but for the time being I have to tell him he needs to sit down and take care of Jay. I did.

When asked what percentage of his face was burned, Grossman said, “Burns included the lower half of his face, cheeks, chin, ears and neck.”

So far in his recovery, Leno has been on hyperbaric oxygen therapy twice a day for 1 hour in the morning and 1 hour in the afternoon. Leno also underwent her first surgery earlier this week and was laid down to remove unhealthy tissue as a result of her burns.

Depending on the severity of your burns, surgery can be grueling, to say the least. Unhealthy tissue is scraped or shaved, says Grossman. He added that areas of deeper burns are removed more aggressively.

In Leno’s situation, Grossman said, human cadaver skin is used to “create an environment that can stimulate his body to heal, but only temporarily. We need to remove it, and ultimately we need a solid layer of tissue to minimize the ill effects and heal as quickly as possible, and that’s what our game plan is to move forward. .”

Grossman said it’s “a bit premature” to determine how many more surgeries Leno will need in his recovery process or how long he’ll need to stay in a burn center, but the surgeon’s The hope is that Leno will come home sooner or later.

As for permanent disfigurement from the injury, Grossman reiterated it’s too early to tell.

“It’s too early to say what will happen. With burns, especially when you’re severely injured like he was, there’s always a chance,” Grossman said. “Hopefully, with proactive care and a little luck, we’ll be able to get over him with minimal long-term consequences.”

Like Allen, Grossman told ET that Leno is doing very well and joking with some of the hospital staff during his stay.

Grossman said Leno was “very obedient to what we asked him to do,” and that the funny guy was incredibly kind and helpful to the nursing staff and everyone who looked after him. I added that I am grateful to The Center.

He said, “I am very grateful for what he has done to brighten the environment here at the burn center.”
