WWE SummerSlam Preview: John Cena vs Roman Reigns Highlights Stack Event

Just a year before this year’s SummerSlam, World Wrestling Entertainment made a big difference in its presentation.

The professional wrestling giant has moved the production of television shows from the mundane, boring, and increasingly forgotten WWE Performance Center to the WWE Thunder Dome.

Immersive, TV-friendly high-tech TV production. ThunderDome was an attempt to bring fans back to the arena during a pandemic, even if it was digital.

A year later, WWE is ready to insist on their transition to normal.

The company is determined to permanently place a Thunder Dome and pandemic era in front of a large crowd at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas’ SummerSlam on Saturday, August 21st.

WWE returned to the tour last month in front of a live audience, but SummerSlam has firmly established world wrestling entertainment in the business of selling out arenas and stadiums.

The match lineup reflects the major event lineup, and the main event is no exception. SummerSlam is the anniversary of Thunderdome, but it also celebrates a year of WWE Universal Championship ring domination.

Universal Championship: Roman Reigns (C) vs John Cena

This match is suitable for WrestleMania’s main event. The biggest names in professional wrestling over the last 15 years are now playing against the best and most notable ones in WWE.

Since his return at SummerSlam last year, Roman Reigns has arguably been WWE, perhaps the hottest wrestler in the world. His work inside and outside the ring was truly extraordinary, removing the last question that fans surrounding his consistent placement might have had at the top of WWE’s cards.

Reigns was rewarded in a championship main event match with John Cena, partly because of his achievements and partly because WWE sells SummerSlam at the same level as regular WrestleMania. ..

Other matches can still steal the show, but no other match can steal the headline. This is as big a match as it has been in WWE before the pandemic. When it comes to Reigns’ opponents Edge and Daniel Bryan at WrestleMania this year, they’re not John Cena in terms of marketability.

The biggest match of Joe Anoai’s career took place earlier this year in WrestleMania, where he piled up Edge and Daniel Bryan to maintain the Universal Championship.

This match against John Cena in SummerSlam is the biggest match Roman Reigns has ever played, surpassing his previous biggest match against Edge and Daniel Bryan in WrestleMania. .. And as Reigns continues to outperform previous best matches, he will also continue to win against Hall of Fame and future Hall of Fame players. This match is no exception.

Prediction: Roman reign

SmackDown Women’s Championship: Bian Cabereal (C) vs. Sasha Banks

How do you outperform a game that literally makes history? It’s a problem facing both Bianca Belair and Sasha Banks in SummerSlam.

Earlier this year, both wrestlers participated as the first black women to the main event WrestleMania on a historic night, and finally Berea stood tall as the new SmackDown Women’s Champion.

Now they are trying to further enhance their previous efforts. Belair told Sportsnet: The only thing in this match is the SmackDown Women’s Championship, which allows us to focus. “

Since WrestleMania, Berea has continued to rise monumentally, winning big matches after big matches. Her momentum doesn’t feel ready to stop anytime soon.

Berea mentioned her goal of eventually defeating each of the four horsemen (Charlotte Flair, Sasha Banks, Becky Lynch, and Bailey). That goal could be achieved by next year’s WrestleMania if Bianca continues the championship this weekend.

Next up is Charlotte Flair, and finally next year’s WrestleMania … Belair will face Becky Lynch back.

“For me, it’s a dream reservation,” says Berea. “I love going into the ring with Becky Lynch.”

Prediction: Bian Cave Real

WWE Championship: Bobby Lashley (C) vs Goldberg

Please stop. Please, please stop.

Stop offering 54-year-old Goldberg the main event-worthy match. Bobby Lashley offers wrestling fans some of the best jobs of his career, and now he’s tasked with carrying what would almost certainly be a match of less than five minutes with a cool professional wrestler … 20 years-before.

This does not mean that Goldberg should not attend the show. It certainly has uses for those who have the star power and crossover appeal with older generations owned by Goldberg. But that place is at the bottom of the card in attraction matches, not in WWE Championship matches.

Please … Please, please, please. Please stop.

Prediction: Bobby Lashley

Raw Women’s Championship: Nikki Ash (C) vs Charlotte Flair vs Rhea Ripley

Since winning the Raw Women’s Championship in mid-July, the reign of the Nikki ASH title has been branded with the vulnerable label befitting a miraculous hockey team on ice in the 1980s.

How about her How is she doing this? How can she compete with stronger and better wrestlers to win the highest award in women’s wrestling?

Nikki, Charlotte and Ripley have crossed the pass weekly, sometimes multiple times a week, up to SummerSlam. In most cases, Nikki is losing. Other than this actual triple threat match, there’s not much to show to the fans. That said, Nikki’s vulnerable status is a precursor to a triple threat, knowing that he can win either Charlotte or Ripley without causing significant damage to the latter two wrestlers.

Nikki is in the driver’s seat to win an amazing victory in SummerSlam before dropping the title not too far in a singles match.

Prediction: Nikki ASH

Edge vs Seth Rollins

When he retired in Orangeville, Ontario last January, Native Edge informed him that he had a long list of people he wanted to step into the ring. Seth Rollins was near the top of the list.

Rollins is arguably one of WWE’s top wrestlers and a natural enemy of Edge, one of the most respected inling performers in WWE history.

This is a very natural fit in terms of wrestling ability. Rollins is approaching the peak of his skill in the ring, but Edge proves that there is still much to offer when it comes to grappling skills.

This is one of the exciting matches just because it was possible to book a fantasy just a few years ago. That is the reality now.

Prediction: Edge
