Woman dies in head-on collision at Farnham

On Friday night, a van driver veered out of its lane on U.S. Route 104 and struck a vehicle traveling in the opposite direction.

A 28-year-old woman from Bromont was killed in a crash on Route 104 in Farnham, in the Estrie region, on Friday night.

Initial information from the Sûreté du Québec states that at approximately 10:45 pm, the driver of the van veered out of its lane and struck a vehicle traveling in the opposite direction.
Attempts to resuscitate the woman were unsuccessful and she was pronounced dead in hospital, SQ spokesperson Stephen Tremblay said.
The driver, who is in his 50s, was taken to a hospital, but his injuries are said to be non-life-threatening.
Highway 104 was closed for part of the night to allow police to investigate.
Tremblay said there did not appear to be any criminal element to the accident. A mechanical inspection is carried out.
