Wizards Appoints Amber Nichols as NBA G League’s Second Female GM

Amber Nichols is the second female general manager of the NBAG League after Washington Wizards promoted her to that job at Capital City Go-Go on Friday.

Nichols, who played college basketball for four years at Richmond, has been with Gogoes since the team’s inception. She has managed logistics for the past two seasons and has worked with Wizards front offices in NBA and G League draft and scout events.

“I couldn’t be proud. Amber deserves it,” Wizards GM Tommy Sheppard said in a video conference. “She originally came to Wizards as an intern. She worked upwards.”

Nichols has joined the College Park Skyhawks Trimirror as a G-League GM woman. Miller was first in July when the Atlanta Hawks had her take charge of its affiliate.

The G League season will begin next month in Florida with 18 teams. The wizard will not send the G League team to the bubble, but Nichols will accompany some players to join the New Orleans affiliate Erie Bay Hawks.
