Saskatoon Police Warn Public After Report of Sexual Assault

Saskatoon police issued a warning to the public after two sexual assaults were reported in the same area in one week.

Police received the first call on November 16 from a woman walking in the Dignone Crescent neighborhood in Saskatoon’s Brighton neighborhood. A second woman reported the incident on her Nov. 23, Saskatoon Police spokesman Joshua Grella wrote in a statement to Postmedia on Thursday:

“The encounter was brief and, fortunately, the victim was able to escape the assault through his own actions,” Grella wrote, adding that the incident involved “physical, verbal, and a combination of exposure-related advances” were included.

The suspect in both incidents is described as a black man between 5’9″ and 6’0″ tall, of slim build, and weighing about 180 pounds. He is believed to be between 15 and 25 years old.

According to police, the man was wearing a neon purple shirt and neon yellow jacket, and later black jeans and a black hoodie with a white logo on the front, with a hood wrapped around his face.

Gulera wrote that searches for suspects and video evidence of the alleged attack have so far been fruitless, prompting police to warn the public of the potential risks.
