Will Ferrell announces purchase price for Ottawa Senators

ANAHEIM — Anchorman is looking for bargain prices for the Ottawa Senators.

The NHL headquarters in New York will be involved in the Senate sale, and you can bet on its commissioner. Gary Bettman and vice Bill Daly Encourage potential buyers to bring in the Vancouver-born actor Ryan Reynolds as a partner.

Sandy’s A Bright Spot

The Senators have struggled to find consistency this season, but Sanderson has been solid in his rookie season.

The 20-year-old from the University of North Dakota scored his first goal in the NHL against Vegas on Wednesday, but he doesn’t have to bring the offense to contribute. The club’s fifth overall pick in his 2020 NHL Draft, he’s had a steady job night after night.

Smith can’t say enough good things about the contributions Sanderson has made.

“His attention to detail, boxing out of the puck, stick positioning, everything we tell him to do on the fly,” Smith said. “He doesn’t wait five or six games before he makes a mistake and doesn’t try again.

“Tell him something and he’ll do it on the first try, but he rarely finds it.”

Longtime former Ottawa defenseman Wade Redden Now working in the club’s player development department after appearing in 838 games in his NHL career with the organization, he told the Postmedia Sens Panel that he liked what he saw from Sanderson.

Sanderson is in the talk of the Calder Trophy as Rookie of the Year.

“I saw him at summer development camp and he couldn’t skate, but just seeing his mentality and habit of focusing on getting fit in training made me realize that he was I found myself one step ahead of everyone else,” Reden said.

“I don’t think there is any question of what everyone thought of him when he got the chance in rookie camp and training camp and what he could be. He’s playing and proving to be a solid presence, he just keeps getting better and better.

“The team is struggling, but he’s got his chance and he’s doing a great job. It’s exciting to have him in the league. Even if he’s not with the top rookies, he’s still going strong. I’ll be there with some top defensemen.”
