Whoopi Goldberg Responds To Body Criticism In ‘Till’: ‘That Wasn’t A Fat Suit’

Whoopi Goldberg has responded to criticism for her role in the new movie ‘Till.

The film is a biopic based on the life of Emmett Till, in which the actress plays Till’s grandmother.

entertainment weekly Report a movie review from Daily Beast criticized Goldberg’s “distracting fat suits” in their evaluation of the film. In response to comments on Monday’s episode of “The View,” she revealed that it wasn’t actually a prosthetic leg.

“There was a young woman writing for one of the magazines, and she was distracted by my fat suit in her review,” Goldberg said. No, but you should know it was me, not the fatsuit. I’m assuming you haven’t seen the show.

An editor’s note was then added to the article, along with the article, “Updated to reflect Whoopi Goldberg said he wasn’t wearing a fat suit.”

Goldberg continued, “You don’t have to be a fan of the film,” but urged writers to “take people’s eyes off” of criticism. Listen, I’m sure I didn’t mean to insult you.”

Goldberg has been public about her health issues in recent years, so her fellow host Sunny Hostin was taken aback by the review.

“I hope she didn’t know. The next time you talk about someone, she’ll know what you’re talking about as an actor,” Goldberg replied. If you don’t know, don’t make blanket statements because it doesn’t sound like you know what you’re doing.”

“Till” opens in select theaters on October 14th and opens to the general public on October 28th.
