“I would like to comment on The Great American Family show that was published in The Wall Street Journal. Those of you who know me have no doubt that I have great love and affection for everyone. It is sad that the media often tries to divide us, comforting and hilarious in the way Christmas movies do. Even on the subject. But given our current culture’s toxic climate, I shouldn’t be surprised. We need Christmas more than ever.

I am a devoted Christian. So I believe that every human being has an image of God. That is why I am called to love all, and I do. If you know me, you know that I am a fierce and indiscriminate lover. I aspire to reflect God’s immense love for all.

I have a simple message for members of the media who are using this opportunity to fan the flames of conflict and hatred. To those who hate what I hold dear and attack me online: I love you. To those who tried to assassinate my character: I love you. I love everyone reading this, regardless of race, creed, sexuality, or political affiliation, including those who have tried to bully me by name calling.

I have long wanted to find a more faith-based programming home. I am grateful to be an integral part of a young and growing network. have contributed to the network in a wonderful way, and have indicated that they will continue to do so. I encourage and fully support it. I was not interested in proselytizing through storytelling, but in celebrating God’s greatness in our lives through the stories I tell. did.

The God we serve is a very creative and loving God. He didn’t just capture a small part of my heart, he captured my whole heart. He reflects in everything I say and do. God’s love and God’s compassion are front and center in my family, my work, and my interactions with people in all walks of life.
