A Flare Airlines plane exits the runway while landing at Waterloo Airport

A Flair Airlines plane carrying 134 passengers left the Waterloo runway on Friday morning.

The airline said a Flare Airlines F8 501 from Vancouver to Kitchener-Waterloo “left the runway” in the Waterloo International Airport area after landing.

Several videos posted on social media showed a Boeing 737 on a grassy field near the runway.

Police told CP24 that one passenger had “minor injuries” and was treated by paramedics at the scene.

“The area around the airport is currently closed to traffic,” police said.

“Passengers were disembarked from the plane and taken by bus to the terminal.

At this time, it remains unknown what caused the plane to leave the runway.

Canada’s Transportation Safety Board said it was deploying an investigative team to “collect information and assess the outbreak.”
