Vancouver Police have released another disturbing video of the unsolicited attack.
It happened on Commercial Drive near East 10th Street early in the morning on July 31st, in the middle of Pride Week.
Three men assaulted a 42-year-old man in the street after he bought a slurpee, according to a Vancouver Police news release. A verbal confrontation ensued in the lineup in the store.
“The victim was thrown with a drink, knocked to the ground, and repeatedly punched and kicked by three men while the two women watched from a distance,” Konst said. Tania Visintin said in a news release: “After the attack, the men and women left together and the wounded were left by the roadside.”
WARNING: The video below contains disturbing imagery.
Police are investigating the incident as a possible hate crime, but have not been able to identify the five people, including the two women in the video.
“The video shows many people passing through the area, including people in cars and cyclists who stopped to call for help but did not remain at the scene when police arrived.” said Visintin. “We are also asking these people to tell us what they have seen and heard so that we can fully understand what happened.”
