Vernon Search and Rescue responded to three incidents overnight

Vernon Search and Rescue (VSAR) was swamped with several calls late Friday night.

VSAR was called to three separate tasks by the Vernon RCMP on August 26th. The first task was to investigate a partially submerged yacht on Lake Okanagan.

“Thankfully, the boat was found abandoned and had no one on board,” VSAR said Saturday morning.

When the crew answered the yacht and were on the lake, the team received another call. This time to help find people in the Vernon area. However, VSAR stopped this task before deploying the member.

Later, with the boat crew moored and the ground crew on their way back to the hall, a team was called in to find another missing person in an area just north of Vernon.

VSAR responded to members by bicycle, vehicle, and foot to search the heavily overgrown area.

They ended up stranded overnight after being unable to find the person.

After a quick gear maintenance, the team members got home a little before 2am.
