Airplane passengers try to bring concealed guns on board

A gun found inside a raw chicken at an airport security checkpoint is what the TSA calls a “personal chicken.”

This week, after someone from the TSA put on pants and drew attention to the “waste of time” stuffing a bird with firearms, the TSA posted on Instagram “a conspiracy chicken.”

Passengers were heading to Port-au-Prince, Haiti, according to Sari Koshetz, a TSA spokesperson for the Gulf region.

Nestor Iglesias, a spokesman for the Homeland Security Investigations Service, the investigative arm of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, said he was unable to provide any further details as it was an “ongoing criminal case that allowed indictment.” Said he couldn’t.

Nearly all of the guns found at the checkpoint were loaded with ammunition, the TSA said.

“An accidental discharge can lead to tragedy,” TSA’s Koshetz said in a statement. “All passengers are responsible for knowing exactly where their guns are before they enter the security checkpoint.”

For many passengers, carrying guns into airports has resulted in arrests and court notices.

Civil penalties from the TSA can run up to $13,910, even if no passengers are arrested, according to a TSA news release.
