A Vancouver man charged with stabbing a food delivery man last week is believed to be behind a second random stabbing.
Dennis Prasad, 43, was charged with one count of aggravated assault for each of the Sept. 10 and Sept. 11 incidents.
The two stabbings occurred just blocks from each other near East Hastings Street.
On September 10, a 55-year-old man was attacked while walking alone near East Cordova Street and Jackson Avenue. Vancouver Police said the man managed to call 911 but suffered life-threatening injuries.
The next day, while the 22-year-old food delivery man was locking his bicycle near Gore Avenue and East Pender Street, someone approached him from behind and began stabbing him. He suffered injuries to his chest and neck, but he was also able to call 911. His injuries were initially thought to be life threatening to him, but the next day police said he was expected to survive the 22-year-old man.
Prasad was taken into custody on September 12 and charged with stabbing the 22-year-old the same day. On Wednesday (September 21), the VPD announced that the 55-year-old’s indictment against Prasad for the stabbing had also been approved.
Prasad remains in custody.
