Two wildfires on the way east of Vernon


A second fire broke out in the Cherryville area near Highway 6, east of Vernon.

Lightning-driven wildfires started Friday night (August 12) along Cherry Creek. It currently occupies only 0.16 hectares.

It’s the second lightning-driven fire in the area in two days.

On Thursday night (August 11), a wildfire broke out near Heckman Forest Service Road near HWY 6.

There are currently 148 wildfires across the state, 92 of which have occurred in the last two days.
