Travis Scott officially returned to the award show stage on Sunday. The 31-year-old rapper was in the limelight for playing two surrealistic numbers that surprised the audience at the 2022 Billboard Music Awards.
Performing on a set that looks like a frozen snow bunker in a desolate icy tundra, Scott started with the track “Mafia” when smoke and fog swirled around his feet and swallowed a chilly fake locale. rice field.
After that, Scott moved to the performance of “Lost Forever”. The performance featured dancers in a furry ensemble, showing off a unique psychedelic number that sets them apart from other traditional performances in the show.

This was Scott’s first award show performance since the Astroworld tragedy in Houston, Texas six months ago.
The incident killed 10 people and injured hundreds at the festival in November 2021. Authorities described this as a “chaotic event,” and coroners determined that all 10 festival victims had died in “suffocation.” Manners were determined to be an accident.
Multiple proceedings have been filed against Scott and others involved in the festival. Recently, Rapper was on a long list of defendants nominated in a wrongful death lawsuit filed by a woman who claimed to have suffered a “terrible injury” in the Astroworld tragedy that caused the miscarriage.
Approximately a month after the tragedy, Scott spoke for the first time and refused to hear signs of distress from the crowd during the performance in an hour-long interview.
“I’m that artist too, so it’s very crazy. Whenever you can hear something like that, you want to stop the show. I want the fans to get the right attention they need.” He said. “Whenever I could see something like that, I did. I stopped it a few times to see if everyone was okay. And I really gathered the energy of the fans. Throw it away as a target, a phone call, and an answer. I just couldn’t hear it. “
Scott has since vowed to honor the victims with the launch of his project Heal, which specifically aims to tackle event safety. Last weekend, the rapper performed in Miami to commemorate his first performance since the tragedy. He also played at the famous nightclub E11 when the city welcomed F1 at the 2022 Miami Grand Prix.
The complete list of 2022 BBMA finalists was released on April 8th, with weekend landing nominations in 17 categories. Later, it was revealed that Mary J. Blige would win this year’s Icon Award.
In a statement last month, Blige was honored with 10 Billboard Music Awards throughout his career.
“My career was an incredibly unexpected journey, including acting, producing, starting a business, and now even my music festival, with many shifts to unimaginable paths.” Brige told Billboard. “Throughout, I’ve always been somehow pulled back to my first love, music. It’s an incredible honor to be recognized this way at the Billboard Music Awards Icon Awards, and I Is really humble. “
