Tom Cruise took part in one of James Corden’s first live talk show appearances at the studio and took advantage of the recent news that Corden is about to depart from the “Late Late Show.”
At the beginning of Tuesday’s episode, Corden introduces evening guests, including Cruise and his “Top Gun: Maverick” co-star Monica Barbaro, in a traditional quick check-in in their green room. bottom.
“James! I’m very honored to be here. I apologize for the news,” said smiling Cruz. “I’m sorry I was fired.”
It’s been less than a week since Corden signed on last Thursday to do another season of The Late Show with James in the Tears Monologue and announced that he would end the series he’s hosting from March 2015. Hmm. ..
“But I wanted you to know that I was here for you,” continued Cruise before Corden corrected him. “I’m here tonight for you, and for what you need … I wouldn’t have fired you.”

Corden first signed a contract to host the “Late Late Show” — — Previously hosted by Craig Ferguson — premiered in 2014 on March 23, 2015.
Following the news that this was his last season, one source told ET that leaving Corden’s show wasn’t a surprise.
“The Late Show with James crew has been waiting since January for James Corden to re-sign the deal before the summer. Some crew members have already said that Corden isn’t going to re-sign. I felt it, so I started looking for work opportunities elsewhere, “said a source.
Sources said there was talk of him wanting to spend more time with his family, although the exact reason why Corden left is unknown.
“I think we could all say he was ready to go,” the source added. “We saw it coming, but it doesn’t surprise us.”
It has not yet been announced who will take over after Corden leaves the show next year.
The “Late Late Show” will be broadcast on CBS at 12:30 am on weekdays at ET / PT. Meanwhile, “Top Gun: Maverick” will jump into the theater on May 27th.
