Toby Keith reflects on ‘debilitating’ battle with stomach cancer

The 61-year-old country music singer recently revealed that he hopes to one day return to touring after battling stomach cancer.

“Yeah, I’m thinking about getting back into combat mode,” he said in a November episode. CMT Hot 20 Countdown“I just need some time to rest and recover. It’s pretty debilitating to have to go through it all.”

Fans found out about Keith’s cancer journey over the summer. “Last fall, I was diagnosed with stomach cancer,” he said. murmured “I’ve been through chemotherapy, radiation and surgery for the last six months. So far so good. I need time to catch my breath, recover and relax.”

The “should have been a cowboy” artist said he was “looking forward to spending this time” with his family, while also expressing excitement about finally returning to the stage.

“But sooner or later we will meet the fans,” he added. “i can’t wait.”
