The Fintley Queen needs your help again. 325 Passenger ships are considering refinancing and restructuring so that they can resume providing passenger services.

According to Fintry Queen co-owner Andy Schwab, the ship last operated in 2008 and carried more than 25,000 passengers.

“I leased the boat in 2000 under a lease purchase agreement. I went to Gangbuster the second and came across Transport Canada,” Schwab said.

Unfortunately, Transport Canada refused to test Fintley. This was necessary in order to continue sailing. Because I didn’t have the space to test it. Canadian Transport Agency requirements required the boat to have a port capable of dry docking. No such thing exists in the Okanagan.

Schwad is a proponent of the ship, but continued failures leave Fintley empty-handed on the water. Andy tells Global News he would love to see the boat at full capacity again.

“My idea is to run it as a ferry again so that we can go to parks, stop at wineries, stop at resorts and circle the lake,” Schwab said.

According to Schwab, he needs to raise $1 million to modify the ship.

He told Global News he believes he has a “winning formula” to attract investors.

“I currently have a tax credit for investors in BC that is a 30% tax credit. It’s beneficial,” Schwab said.
