A local farmer has made a monumental gift of support to the Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital (JPCH) Foundation in the hope that other Saskatchewan farmers will follow in his lead.
On Thursday morning, Gene Pidwelveski joined the JPCH Foundation family with a donation of $1,980,000 in partnership with the Saskatoon Community Foundation. This is to support an urgently needed new program ‘Harvest for Kids ‘Health’ inspired by Pidwelveski and her family.
“This meaningful gift will greatly support the medical team and provide them with the latest technology and state-of-the-art equipment needed for specialized healthcare at Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital in Saskatchewan,” said a JPCH Foundation media release. read.
A multi-generational farmer near Borden, Sask and Pidwelbeski wanted to help the children of Saskatchewan. He hopes his gift will inspire other farmers, both individuals and businesses, to contribute to this important program.
“Children, now more than ever, need to live the life they deserve to the fullest, and that’s what this gift is for,” said Pidwelveski. I don’t know if it’s happening or why it’s happening. Being in the hospital is painful enough for adults, but these kids are suffering and need the best options available.”
When urgently needed equipment is purchased, health workers can improve treatment and care for children and their families in Saskatchewan. His donation will support the medical team and provide the latest technology and state-of-the-art equipment needed for JPCH’s medical specialty.
“There are many great places these funds could go, but these kids deserve it the most,” Pidwelveski said.
Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital serves patients from every corner of the state, representing nearly 500 communities in Saskatchewan.
