In their last five regular and postseason matchups, the Timberwolves have given up only 12 points. Vernon led 14–0 in the first quarter as he scored 14 points.

After McDonald’s first interception, Panthers quarterback Cole Bagen hit receiver Jeff Curtis two plays later to make it 7-0 for Vernon Reid.

The Cats extended their advantage by the end of the quarter when Jonah Lee took a pitch from Bagen and rang it 5 yards for the majors.

Bateman got on the board in second as Brady Doucet ran 30 yards on reverse and Tristan Sloboda activated a convert to cut the VSS lead to 14-7.

The Panthers had a 56-yard pass-and-run for a touchdown that was called back late in the quarter for a holding penalty, ending the first half with Vernon up seven.

McDonald scored his first touchdown on a 9-yard run late in the 3rd quarter, and Keltin McCareby (who went perfect 5-5 on the day) added a convert to give the Panthers a 21-7 lead. .

That continued into the opening minutes of the fourth quarter, when the Timberwolves pulled within seven again as Hall rushed in from five yards out. The conversion cut Vernon’s lead to his 21-14.

McDonald got his second TD on a 25-yard run to make it a two-score game, and receiver Anderson Bicknell pulled a 48-yard pass from Bagen to close out the scoring.
