Ottawa, March 8, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Female actuaries continue to face challenges in terms of gender diversity, equity and inclusiveness. Barriers vary by workspace, but common factors include a lack of senior mentors and sponsors, poor reflection of gender expressions in senior management, and an exclusive workplace culture.

Some promising trends show that more women are bringing their skills and voice to the actuary profession, but the Canadian Actuary Institute (CIA) still has something to do. recognizing.To that end, the CIA is proud to release Actuarial Professional Women – How to Increase Gender Diversity, Equity, and Actuarial Inclusion in the Workplace To coincide with International Women’s Day.

Based on findings from focus groups of female actuaries from diverse backgrounds, this guide outlines the challenges women face in the actuary industry, improving the working environment for women and developing their careers. It provides a practical strategy to promote opportunities.

“We strongly believe that the CIA will reduce barriers and provide equitable growth opportunities for all members,” said CIA President Jacqueline Friedland. “Actuarial employers, industry partners, and individual members believe this guide will help them assess their employment practices and organizational culture through the lens of diversity.”
