The Kelowna Rockets captain scores the winning goal to end the game in a 4-2 win over Everett

The Kelowna Rockets came home victorious on Friday night, beating the Everett Silvertips 4-2.

The Rockets, trying to reclaim a tied record for the season, lost 1–0 after the first period, but launched a flurry of offense early in the second period.

Forwards Dylan Wightman and Nolan Flamand each scored to give Kelowna a 2-1 lead just four minutes into the second period.

It was a wild period as the Silvertips tied the game when Jackson Berezowski scored for the 13th time of the season at the 8:16 mark.

However, with less than three minutes remaining, Rockets captain Colton Duck scored what would ultimately be the game-winning goal to give Kelowna a 3–2 lead.

Unfortunately for Duck, he was forced out in the third period after hitting along the boards. Despite not finishing the game, the Chicago Blackhawks prospect was named the game’s first star, finishing with a goal and an assist. It remains unclear whether he will play in the team’s next game on Saturday night.

Forward Max Graham put the icing on the Rockets as he scored an empty net goal with 10 seconds remaining to make it 4-2.

Rockets netminer Taylun Boyko was great at the net, making 29 saves to clinch the win.

The team will return home to face the Moose Joe Warriors at Prospera Place on Saturday night and will be looking to win two in a row to break the .500 mark. It’s the first time the Rockets have hosted the Moose Jaws since his 2018-19 season and his first matchup since December 14, 2019, when Kelowna won him 5-4. Saturday night is the only match between the two teams this season.

The Warriors won again on Friday night, beating the Kamloops Blazers 3-2.

The Moose Jaw features 2022 Canadian Hockey League Rookie of the Year, Brayden Yeager. Brayden Yeager is currently ranked 20th in the WHL where he has 27 points in 23 games. Rockets forward Andrew Crystal scored an assist last night, putting him third in WHL scoring and sixth in CHL scoring this season.

The Rockets and Moosejaw will drop the puck at Prospera Place at 7:05 p.m. Bekins Moving and Storage collects preserved food donations for the Central Okanagan Food Bank at Gates 1 and 2.
