The Canadiens surprised the hockey world by choosing the No. 1 overall in Slavkovsky

In the weeks and days prior to the 2022 NHL Draft, the Montreal Canadiens were keen to keep the intended choices of the first overall choice secret.
Some thought it was a two-man race between Shane Wright of Canada and Julai Slavkovsky of Slovakia. The former spent most of the season as the expected number one.
However, with a slight change in the event, the Canadiens went through the lights and chose to take the 6’4 left winger, leaving Bell Center and social media relatively unbelievable on Thursday.
