The Blue Jays Gausman are likely to play Thursday’s Start vs. Mariners

Right-handed Kevin Gausman of the Toronto Blue Jays didn’t throw a bullpen session on Tuesday’s Side Day. So it’s unlikely that they’ll make their next start in Seattle on Thursday, sportsnet Shi Davidi reports.

Right-handed Casey Lawrence threw a bullpen on Tuesday. This means it’s likely to replace the injured Gausman of the series opener against the Mariners.

Lawrence replaced Goesman on Saturday after being struck by a cambacker from Tampa Bay Rays star Wander Franco, knocking him out of the game in three tops.

The Blue Jays diagnosed Gausman with a bruise on his right leg and said the X-rays returned to negative.

Lawrence, who spent most of the year in Triple A Buffalo as the Blue Jays lost 6-2, allowed six runs in 5.2 innings on Saturday.

Gausman said on Monday that he would only pitch to the Mariners if he was confident that doing so would not exacerbate his injury, message manager Charlie Montoyo said.echo..

“If he’s not 100 percent, he’s not going to pitch,” Montoyo said of Gausman, who is 6-6 at 2.86 ERA this season.

Lawrence was 0-1 and recorded 6.23 ERA in 13 innings in Toronto this season.

Lawrence, 34, made 12 starts in Buffalo this year and ERA was 8-2 at 2.22.
