Last week, Disney + announced the lead cast of the next series, Percy Jackson and the Olympians, based on Rick Riordan’s popular Percy Jackson series.
Walker Scobel was cast as the famous 12-year-old half-god Percy, but it was the cast of Leah Sava Jeffreys as Anabes Chase that ranked some fans.
After the series was announced, Jeffreys shared an Instagram video revealing that her TikTok account was “banned” for those who complained about her cast. “They literally deleted my entire account,” she said.

Riodan has blamed those who attack Jeffreys for her skin color and has released a bitter blame posted on his website.
“The core message of Percy Jackson has always been that the difference is strength. There are multiple powers. What distinguishes us from each other is often a sign of our personal greatness. Prejudice. Don’t judge anyone by how well they fit. For example, that neuropathic kid who failed in six schools could be Poseidon’s son. Anyone can be a hero. You can, “writes Riodan.

“If you don’t know that, but you’re still angry with the casting of this amazing trio, it doesn’t matter how many times you read the book,” he added. “You didn’t learn anything from them.”

Rebecca Riodan, the wife of Riodan, who is also the executive producer of the series, also issued a statement.
“Demagogue is a good word to know,” she wrote on Twitter. “Do we need to talk about the crossing of misogyny and racism? Misogyny is a problem here as well. We blame both. Are you yelled at? Anabes is not yours. She never did. Leave the rear alone. “
