The 2022 Royal Victoria Marathon was an unexpected and enthusiastic success
Over 7,650 runners hit the streets of beautiful Victoria, British Columbia on Sunday. 41st Annual Royal Victoria Marathon (RVM). Unseasonably warm weather welcomed runners tackling the 8K, half marathon and marathon distances and his over 500 youngsters participating in the Thrifty Foods Kids Run.

Ethiopian Teferi Kebede Varcha (currently training at Victoria) won by a commanding 2:25:26. He was over three minutes ahead of his van in second place North. “It was hot and I would have preferred cooler temperatures, but I am happy with the result,” said Bhutin. “Andrea was leading halfway through, but then I was able to pass.” Drew then closed the gap between her and Lee to claim second place.

Course records were set for two new age groups on Sunday. Kim Galliano He ran 3:23:10 in the marathon W60-64 category, shaving three minutes off his previous record of 3:26:46 set in 2017. At 8K, Charlie Moroshwa He ran 25:55 in the M13-15 category, breaking the old record of 27:08 set in 1996.
In addition to in-person racing, RVM has launched a virtual series of events in 2021. Royal Flush Virtual Race Series2022 also offered the option of virtual racing.
