Want to add some sparkle to the holiday season? Now that pandemic restrictions have been lifted, Metro Vancouver will host a variety of events this year, including a festival of lights, Christmas concerts, outdoor skating and craft fairs.

The only holiday tradition that won’t return in 2022 is Vancouver’s Santa Claus Parade. But organizers say the decision wasn’t directly related to COVID-19, but rather to a shortage of sponsors.

Still, here are some events that will make the holiday season even more exciting. Be sure to bookmark this page as new events will be added as they are announced.

Circle Craft Christmas Market

A traditional kickoff for nearly 50 years of holiday shopping, the market returns to the Vancouver Convention Center West from November 9-13. It will be attended by more than 250 of his local and regional artisans, including jewelers, potters, clothing makers and more, including 65 of his debuting in 2022. Designers, wood and metal workers, glass blowers, candle and soap manufacturers.

For the first time since pre-pandemic, market-goers will be able to sample food and drink along with musical performances and shopping contests.

Hours of operation are Wednesday-Friday 10am-9pm. Saturday, 10am-7pm. Sunday from 10am to 5pm. Admission is $15 for adults, $12 for seniors and youth (ages 13-17), and free for children 12 and under. One ticket allowed unlimited re-entry during the market run.

West Coast Christmas Show at Tradex in Abbotsford

This year, Tradex will host the 15th annual West Coast Christmas Show and Artisan Marketplace on November 18, 19 and 20.

The 2022 event brings together holiday gifts, fancy food, personal service, decorating ideas, festive fresh flowers and culinary inspiration under one roof.

Vancouver Christmas Market

The popular annual German-inspired Christmas Market is held at Jack Poole Plaza. From November 12th to December 24th.

Opening hours are as follows.

November 12th to 25th: 4:00pm to 9:30pm (until 10:00pm on Fridays and Saturdays)
November 26th – December 23rd: 11:30am – 9:30pm (until 10pm on Fridays and Saturdays)
December 24: 11:30 am – 6:00 pm

You must book a time slot and ticket to visit. You can do this at vancouverchristmasmarket.com.

Tinseltown at the Alpine Club

The creators of the Fantasy Cocktail event bring the Tinseltown Bar experience to the Vancouver Alpine Club (4875 Victoria Dr.) from November 15th to December 30th. , and Santa and his elves may come to visit.

Tickets, which must be purchased in advance, are $19 for a 90-minute visit and include one celebratory drink.

VSO will hold a traditional Christmas concert on Friday, December 16th at the Orpheum.

The concert will include carols and Christmas music sung by guest soloists and performed live by VSO, with host Christopher Gaze.

Van Dusen Gardens Festival of Lights

The 38th VanDusen Festival of Light will run from November 25, 2022 to January 2, 2023.

Featuring over 1 million lights covering 15 acres, the new Glacial Passage illuminates the indoor hall with the Arctic Lounge.

In addition to themed lighting displays and photo-worthy tunnels of light, the unforgettable Livingston Lake Dancing Lights will return to the gardens this year.

The event is also a fundraiser for Make-A-Wish Canada. Visitors are encouraged to head over to her Make-A-Wish at the Scottish Shelter to light a candle and donate. Donations can also be made online at https://makeawishca.donordrive.com.

Canyon Lights on the Capilano Suspension Bridge

Tickets for Canyon Lights starting with are on sale now. November 19th to January 22nd

The bridge is illuminated from end to end, with changing multi-color displays illuminating the Capilano River below. With its glittering rainforest, walk high above the forest floor in Treetop Adventure’s seven suspension bridges and the ‘Arc Dermina’ Light Tunnel that winds along part of the Cliff Walk.

With over a million lights, there’s plenty to do at this bright, sparkling, family-friendly event. Here are some of the activities that children of all ages will enjoy.

  • Find the missing elves in a scavenger hunt
  • Meet popular characters like Glow Princess
  • Visit with Santa Claus (onsite every night until December 24th)
  • Ride the Glow Comotive
  • Dine at one of the many food trucks
  • Sip hot or cold celebratory beverages

There’s also an animated music tunnel, a forest of dancing trees, an elf castle, swings, hop scotch, a play park and a bouncy farm.

Metro Vancouver’s largest free outdoor lighting display returns to Coquitlam’s Town Center Park this winter.

This year’s Lights at Lafarge kick-off event will be held on November 26th from 5-8pm at Town Center Park and will feature food vendors, arts activities, live entertainment and a grand finale performance.
