Why Is France the Perfect Summer Destination?

If you are thinking of leaving Canada in the next few weeks to take a break from your day-to-day, you should make France your destination. From Normandy in the North to the Provence in the South, you are bound to find sunny weather with temperatures averaging the mid-20s Celsius. There is no better time to walk along the streets of Paris, Lyon or Marseilles. But the weather is just one of the many reasons to plan a trip to France this summer. Here are a few others.

Go for the Beaches (Yes: The Beaches!)

When people talk about going to the beach in Canada, you often hear them mention somewhere in Mexico, Cuba or another Caribbean Island. However, France has its lots of unique beaches that will change you from any other one that you may have known this side of the Atlantic Ocean. Some of the most famous ones are located on the French Riviera. To get there, you will probably have to take one of the flights from Montreal to Paris, and then transfer on another one that will take you to the southern part of the country. The French Riviera is particularly famous for its idyllic beaches and crystal-clear waters, ideal for swimming, sunbathing and water sports.

Go for a Large Variety of Natural Environments

It is well known that France is home to some of the most stunning scenery in Europe. It starts with its villages, which you can discover one by one by renting a car to get on a road trip. Those who enjoy wine will prefer to choose a tour of some of the most charming vineyards that can be found in various regions of the country. Between the famous wines of Bordeaux, the Champagne region or the vineyards located on the hills in front of the Rhône River, wine enthusiasts will certainly be divided, but all will come away happy, no matter which tour they choose. We can’t forget to mention the rugged coastline views that can be seen on boat tours or the incredible mountains which include the Mont Blanc in the French Alps. These are good enough reasons to book one of the flights from Toronto to Paris right now.

Go for the Museums

There are people that don’t tolerate the warm weather well. This year, El Niño is playing tricks all around the world, pushing extremely high temperatures everywhere. Those who want to stay fresh won’t have any problem doing so, as they walk from one room to another in the unique museums that can be found around the Hexagone. It all starts with the Louvre, a location that features a few of the greatest works of arts, which is also home to La Joconde, by Leonardo da Vinci. From there, you can go to the Musée d’Orsay, where almost each of the paintings on its walls will already be known to you. It is literally filled with some of the most famous paintings in the world. Finally, don’t miss a visit to Rodin’s house which is now a museum featuring many of his works. This tour is one that you won’t ever forget, as it is filled with beauty.
