Speeds, crashes raise safety concerns in Vernon district
LETTER: Significant increase in traffic since the roundabout opened
Residents of 29th Street, from 39th to 41st, demanded a review of traffic speeds and public safety along the 29th Street corridor.
Excessive speed and several crashes over the summer destroyed several boulevard trees and traffic signs as vehicles pulled away from the narrow road.
A high-speed crash (see photo) on September 3 completely destroyed the vehicle involved and damaged light poles near several homes in the corridor.
The council has been notified that the City of Vernon has received letters of concern from nine residents, urging them to support speed reductions, traffic calming measures, speed enforcement and improved public safety along the corridor. I am expressing.
Traffic has increased significantly since the roundabouts opened at 39th and 29th Streets.
Residents are asking that drivers show some respect for their neighbors’ concerns as they navigate the corridors.
