Once completed, the $800 million Freed Hotel & Residences will stand as one of Toronto’s tallest structures, towering over the downtown core at 240 Adelaide St. W. This architectural marvel will boast 100 luxurious five-star hotel rooms, 400 condominium suites, and a breathtaking Skybar and restaurant on the top floor, offering unparalleled views of the city.

Peter Freed, the renowned Toronto real estate developer after whom the project is named, expressed his lifelong preparation for this venture, marking the culmination of 30 years of hard work. As Freed’s first branded hotel development, this project represents a significant milestone, made possible through longstanding partnerships within the real estate and hospitality sectors.

With a portfolio of upscale condo developments and prestigious hospitality projects, including the iconic Thompson Hotel (now 1 Hotel Toronto), Freed is no stranger to luxury real estate. His extensive experience in luxury resort developments across Ontario positions Freed Hotels & Resorts as a prominent player in Canada’s hospitality landscape.

Securing the central Adelaide and Duncan location for the Freed Hotel & Residences required extensive investigation and negotiations spanning five years. Freed meticulously crafted his vision for the project before assembling a team, ultimately selecting Chicago-based tall-building experts, Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture, renowned for their groundbreaking designs such as the Jeddah Tower.

Collaborating closely with the architectural team, Freed envisioned a balcony-free design with a sleek exterior, emphasizing innovation and elegance. The highlight of the project, the 63rd-floor Skybar, promises a spectacular experience, with guests ascending a grand staircase to a glass-walled bar boasting 70-foot ceilings.

The building’s interior will feature an exquisite sculpture by Japanese contemporary artist Takashi Murakami, while the second floor will house Katsuya, a high-end Japanese restaurant developed by hospitality mogul Sam Nazarian.

With units priced from $600,000, Freed Hotel & Residences offers a luxurious lifestyle catering to discerning clientele accustomed to top-tier architecture and hospitality. Units are now available for purchase, with occupancy tentatively scheduled for January 2030.
