Sir Elton John to headline Glastonbury 2023. His final UK gig after over 50 years of touring

Sir Elton John has found the perfect way to say goodbye to 52 years of touring.

The musicians will play their final gig in the UK as headliners for Glastonbury Festival 2023.

The beloved UK event will run from June 21st to 25th, with John on the Pyramid Stage on the final night.

John, who has performed around the world with his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour, said: Fans,” he reported to Sky News.

He added:

“Every week I talk to new artists on my radio show and Glastonbury is often cited as a key moment in launching their careers. Supporting is something I have long admired.

“I was talking to [co-festival organizer] I’ve had Emily Eavis talk to me about this over the last few weeks and I can’t wait to embrace the spirit of the world’s biggest festival. It will be incredibly emotional. ”

Eavis said:

“This will be the final UK gig of Elton’s final tour, so we’re closing out the festival and with the mother of all send-offs for this big moment in the history of both of us.

“I’m so happy to finally bring Rocketman to Worthy Farm.”

After Glastonbury, John will retire from touring to spend more time with his family and will continue touring in Paris, Zurich, Copenhagen and Stockholm. He previously had to reschedule all dates due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
