Bettermoo (d) CEO Nima Bahrami contacted Adams via Instagram and said he was “extremely shocked by his response.”
Growing up in North Vancouver, rocker Bryan Adams has invested in a local dairy alternative startup called bettermoo (d).
In a prepared statement, Adams said he had defended the value of a plant-based diet for over 30 years. That’s why he favors bettermoo (d).
“Fostering responsible eating habits, such as choosing plant-based alternative dairy products, is what we can all do to reduce animal cruelty and help the environment,” said Adams, based in the United Kingdom.
According to Statistics Canada, there are 2.3 million vegetarians in Canada, and 850,000 have declared themselves vegan. British Columbia has the highest share of vegetarians and vegans in Canada.
The company’s first product, called Moodrink, is expected to be available in the coming months. Mudrinks are made from oat milk and come in a variety of flavors, but according to CEO Nimaba Harami, they are infused with herbs and stand out from other similar drinks.
He also says the product is made to taste creamy and as milky as possible, using serials and coffee, for cooking and to drink on its own. I did.
Bahrami said he contacted Adams on Instagram earlier this year because he knew the singer was a proponent of a plant-based diet.
“I was very shocked by his reaction,” Baharami said. Adams has 880,000 followers on Instagram and 650,000 followers on Twitter, using both formats to promote his music and raise awareness of the environment, animal rights and diet.
According to Bahrami, the company, which already had early investors, sent some of its products to Adams, who agreed to become a shareholder of the business. He will be in Vancouver next month to help promote the venture.
He said drinks would be made, packaged and initially sold through the company’s website at a Canadian location where bettermoo (d) would be determined. The product has a shelf life of about one year, which is a viable proposal, but Bahrami said the goal is to bring Moodrink to some of the supermarket shelves and online distribution services.
