Senator adds scout Trent Man, Ryan Bownes, as Assistant General Manager

Ottawa Senators added two familiar faces as assistant general managers before the NHL entry draft.

Formerly the team’s chief amateur scout, Trentman will be promoted to continue his Scouting mission while adding a player development role to his portfolio.

A 48-year-old native from Sackville, New Brunswick, he started with Sens in 2010 as a part-time amateur scout.

Ottawa also hired Rick Bowness, the son of Rick Bowness, a former director of the Pittsburgh Penguins Pro Scout and the first coach of the Senator.

Born in Halifax, 38-year-old Bowness is responsible for the team’s contract and is the general manager of Senator Bellville of the American Hockey League.

The move came after former AGM Peter McTabish left Sens earlier this month to join hockey management firm Quartex Hockey.

Mann and Bowness will join the Senator in Montreal next week prior to the 2022 NHL Entry Draft starting July 7.
