See Naomi Ackie as Whitney Houston in the first look of “I want to dance with someone”

Naomi Ackie is saving all her love for the next Whitney Houston biopick “I want to dance with someone”!

The Star Wars actress embodies the late diva of the movie, due out in December this year, and when the poster was released on Monday, fans first saw her portrayal of the legendary vocalist. The biography was directed by Kasi Lemmons, director of Harriet, and written by Anthony McCarten of Bohemian Rhapsody.

In the poster, Akky’s Houston stands out to heaven with his arms outstretched. She wears a leather jacket, white top and blue jeans, and Whitney fans of Eagle Eye will notice from the singer’s iconic “So Emotional” video.

Ackie talks to ET about playing in Houston last May, shortly after the casting was announced, ensuring fans around the world are “working” to prepare for a major role. I emphasized that.

“I’ll do my best for that woman, which makes my spine quiver how much she makes sense to me, the world, black women, and African-American women,” she said at the time. “I put everything in to make sure she is properly represented.”

“I just want to talk about her, and if I could simplify it, I think I could deal with the pressure,” Ackie added.

“I Wanna Dance With Somebody” will be released exclusively at the cinema on December 21st.
