School Overview: Central Okanagan Trustees Receive Commission Assignments
The Central Okanagan School Board has made various committee quotas for its trustees, which were revealed at the board meeting on Wednesday (November 24).
The committee appointments are as follows:
• General Affairs Committee (committee-wide): Chair, Julia Fraser
• Coordinating Committee: Lee-Ann Tiede, Julia Fraser
• Education and Student Services Committee: Chair, Amy Geistlinger.Members Valene Johnson and Julia Fraser
• Finance and Audit Committee: Chairman, Wayne Broughton. Members Valene Johnson and Chantelle Desrosiers
• Planning and Facilities Committee: Chair, Chantelle Desrosiers.Members Wayne Broughton and Lisa Guderian
• Policy Board: Chair, Julia Fraser.Members Amy Geistlinger and Lisa Guderian
• Executive Staff Management Committee: Chair, Wayne Broughton. Members Lee-Ann Tiede and Julia Fraser

Two new administrative staff members were introduced to the school board. Kate Cumming (Secretary and Accounting Assistant) and Catherine Sullivan (Executive and Her Assistant in the Office of the Executive Director of Human Resources).

Central Okanagan Public Schools hosted a delegation from the Yukon Indigenous Education Directorate.
The delegation includes Elders, Knowledge Keepers, Junior Advocates (students), and the Education Advocate team.
This is the second time the Yukon Directorate has traveled to the Okanagan to learn about the district’s Indigenous education curriculum efforts, and once again met with Vernon School District officials.
Central Okanagan Public Schools has seen an increase in the graduation rate of Indigenous students above the state average and already has courses expected to meet eligibility standards set by the Department of Education Graduation Credits. As such, we are at the forefront of Indigenous education in BC. Required for all students.

The district will be home to high school sports at the state championship next weekend.
The state AAAA Senior Women’s Volleyball Championship will be held December 1-3 at the Okanagan Mission Secondary and the state AAA Senior Men’s Volleyball Championship will be held November 30-December 3 at the Ecole Kelowna Secondary.

Due to the Christmas holidays, there will be only one school board meeting in December, which will be held on Wednesday, December 14th at 6:00 PM.
The next meeting after that is Wednesday, January 11th at 6:00 pm.
