Pregnancy occurred before the 1973 US Supreme Court decision Roe v. Wade. This ruling enshrines the constitutional right to abortion.
“Marlon found a doctor through some friends,” recalled the 90-year-old. “He was a real doctor-Marlon paid him $ 500-as opposed to something in the back alleys.”
She continued. “Marlon took me to the hospital. I knew they told me it was a” pregnancy disorder. ” The doctor did nothing but make me bleed. In other words, he didn’t do it right. I didn’t know at that time, but he may have died. What a mess. What a terrible mess! “

Looking back at the 1973 ruling, Moreno recalled, “I was delighted.”
“Hillary Clinton warned everyone about this,” she added. “I wasn’t shocked to see it coming, but I was stunned.”
She continued. “I’m thinking of a young girl. At the most extreme, a girl who gets pregnant because of rape or incest. The word unfair isn’t strong enough, but it’s unfair.”
Finally, Moreno added: There are many of us. I’m wondering what to do about this. If anything, this has rejuvenated us. “
