Technical problems didn’t help the situation back up for travelers on Monday (August 15th) on BC Ferries.
At 12:45 p.m., the organization issued an advisory that travelers cannot make or change reservations because the reservation system is down.As of 3:00 p.m., the system remains down.
By 8 a.m. Monday morning, BC Ferries noted staff were loading as many vehicles as possible, but sailing queues were piling up for drivers exiting Tsawwassen Terminal bound for Duke Point in Nanaimo. started. As of 3pm, only the 10:45pm departure was available. The 5:15am departure on Tuesday was available, but the 7:45am and 10:15am departures were full.
Similarly, those heading in the opposite direction only had the 10:45 PM departure as an option.
There are hourly departures between Tsawwassen and Swartz Bay, but travelers to the islands have to wait for four ships with open tickets for the 7pm departure. Congestion in the opposite direction also began around noon, with travelers facing his two sailing waits.
