Report: Buccaneers’ Godwin rules out Packers, Jones, Gage

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have ruled out Pro Bowl wide receiver Chris Godwin in Week 3 against the Green Bay Packers, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Receivers Julio Jones and Russell Gage are considered suspect in the contest, Schefter added.

Godwin suffered a torn ACL in the Buccaneers’ Week 15 game against the New Orleans Saints last season. The 26-year-old was able to play in Tampa Bay’s season-opener against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 1, but a low catch in the second quarter limped out the game. Finished.

Jones has been dealing with a knee issue and will not be attending practice Wednesday and Thursday. Gage was a limited participant due to a hamstring injury.

Tampa Bay will also miss receiver Mike Evans after he was suspended for one game last week after an on-field altercation with Saints cornerback Marshon Lattimore.

The Buccaneers started the 2022 season 2-0 with convincing and dominant defensive victories over the Cowboys and Saints.
