The University of Regina Cougars are the #1 ranked U Sports women’s basketball team for the third consecutive week.

The Cougars swept the University of Manitoba Bisons at the Center for Kinesiology, Health and Sports last weekend to improve Western Canada’s record to 6-0.

Regina won 75-62 on Friday with a 20-point, 14-rebound double-double from Jade Belmore. She followed up Saturday with a 91-82 U of R win with 28 points, 9 rebounds, 7 assists and 3 steals.
Next up for the Cougars is a road set this weekend against the UBC Okanagan Heat in Kelowna, where the Cougars’ men’s basketball team (4-2) will also play two games.
Last weekend, the U of R men’s team split with Manitoba, rebounding 81-73 a night later after losing 85-76 at home on Friday.
Carter Miller of the Cougars had a double-double each game. He had 18 points and 12 assists on Friday and 23 points and 14 rebounds in the finale.

The top two teams in the Saskatchewan Women’s AAA Under-18 Hockey League will meet Friday night at Duncan McNeil Arena in Wilcox.
The hosts Notre Dame Hounds bring a record of 10-2-0-0 in their 8 o’clock matchup against Regina Avana Rebels (10-3-0-0).
Notre Dame, Regina and the Swift Current Innovation Credit Union Wildcats (10-4-0-0) are tied for first on 30 points. The Hound has played one game against Regina, and the Swift has played two games less than Current.
Rebels will host the Weyburn Richardson Pioneer Gold Wings on Sunday (1pm, Co-operators Centre).
Also on Sundays, Notre Dame will entertain the Prince Albert Northern Bears from 1:30pm.
Swift Current will visit Battlefords Sharks on Saturday and Sunday.

Kylan Wol-Harden scored 33 points to lead the O’Neill Titans 77-60 to the Sheldon-Williams Spartans in the Regina Intercollegiate Basketball League junior men’s action on Tuesday.
In another junior men’s game, Mafope Soiemi’s 23 points gave the Miller Marauders an 88-59 victory over the Johnson Wildcats, who scored 18 points from Colton Thomson.
Also on Tuesday, Chloe Liger gave the Riffel Royals 18 points as they defeated the Luther Lions 48-37 in the Junior Girls Game. Megan Graf gave her 10 to Luther.

Matt Shafferstar made 38 saves to backstop the Weyburn Red Wings in a 4-1 win over the Yorkton Terriers at Crescent Point Place in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League on Tuesday.

Jackson Hussmann scored two goals, including an empty net.
Also on Tuesday, Ethan Strick scored at 3:36 in extra time to give La Longe Ice Wolves a 4-3 win over Notre Dame at the Duncan McNeill Arena.
Dawson Smith had 43 saves at La Longe. Carson Bayliss scored his two goals for the Hounds.
