The Calamarca Classic Paddleboard Festival is gearing up for two days of fun on the water this weekend.
With over $7,000 in prizes and cash prizes to be won, the Kal Classic is said to be the largest stand-up paddleboard gathering in Canada.
The festival kicks off on Friday (August 19) at 6pm with the Spirit Paddle.
Participants will race Saturdays in the Eagle Run Challenge, a 2.8-mile social race, an inflatable scramble open to anyone with an inflatable paddleboard, and Keiki Holo for children 12 and under.
A marquee event, the Calamarca Crossing, concludes the festival on Sunday.
Racers start on Mt. Daisen and trek 18 kilometers to Cal Beach.
Cal Classic is fun for the whole family and raises money to save the lake.
Hosted by Kalavida Surf Shop with the support of many community partners. Kalavida has raised over $9,500 through the festival to support local charities.
