Derek Carr and Davante Adams warmed up but didn’t get a chance to play together for the first time since Fresno State. His three-time Pro Bowl quarterback Kerr and All-Pro his receiver Adams, acquired in a blockbuster trade with Green Bay, was one of many starters who made appearances for both teams.
Jacksonville’s Trevor Lawrence wore a backwards hat on the sidelines, but third-string quarterback Jake Luton got the start.
The NFL’s first preseason game started 40 minutes late due to inclement weather that forced fans to seek shelter.
As expected, things got sloppy after the opening kickoff.

McDaniels grew up in this historic football town and played on this field at the Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium at Canton McKinley High School. This field was known as Fawcett Stadium for the national team’s quarterbacks.
After winning six Super Bowls as an assistant under Bill Belichick with the New England Patriots, he will begin his second stint as NFL head coach. McDaniels went 11-17 in 2009-10 with Denver.
Pederson also made his second appointment as NFL head coach after being sidelined in 2021. He led the Philadelphia Eagles to the franchise’s first Super Bowl victory and three playoff appearances in five seasons from 2016 to 2020.
Pederson is already changing Jacksonville’s culture after a dismal 2021 season under Urban Meyer, which lasted just 11 months.
He is tasked with trying to turn one of the worst organizations in the league into a winner. The Jaguars have his one season winning streak in the last 14 years.
Daniel Carlson connected on field goals of 32 and 55 yards to give the Raiders a 6–0 lead in the first quarter. Amir Abdullah scored on an 8-yard run in the second quarter and Stidham scrambled 12 yards for a touchdown to make it 20–0 late in the first half.
Down 27-3, the Jaguars found the end zone late in the fourth quarter when Kyle Slaughter threw a 5-yard TD pass to Nathan Cottrell. Cottrell ran down center for the two-point conversion.
Stidham endured a late hit from Walker and connected with Kieran Cole for 31 yards on the opening play. He was 8th of his 15 with his 96 yards.
A fourth-round pick for the team, White gained 52 yards on 11 carries, including a 14-yard run on his first touch. Jacobs ran for 30 yards on five carries. Walter had 49 yards on his 8 carries and 8 TDs for him.
Tony Boselli, Jaguar’s first ever nominee and franchise’s first Hall of Famer, received a big round of applause when he was introduced as a 2022 class Hall of Famer. Boselli was named to the Pro Bowl five times in his seven seasons with Jacksonville and had his three All-Pro left tackles before ending his career with injury.
The Raiders’ longtime wide receiver and prospective posthumous Hall of Famer Cliff Branch was represented in a pregame introduction by his sister, Elaine Anderson. Branch was named All-Pro three times and Pro Bowl four times in his 14-year NFL career, all of which he spent with the Raiders in Oakland and Los Angeles.
Former Raiders defensive end Arden Key had two sacks in his first game in Jacksonville. Key has recorded three sacks in his three seasons with the Raiders.
