Protesters were arrested after throwing eggs at King Charles III and Queen Camilla at a welcoming ceremony in the British city of York on Wednesday.

The royal couple greeted the crowd and entered York through Micklegate Bar, a medieval gateway that serves as the traditional royal entrance to the city of York.

The egg did not appear to hit either Charles or Camilla. Photos from the scene show broken egg shells and yolks littering the streets. Some even show eggs in flight.
