UBC’s Glynis Sim Wins Women’s U Sports XC Title In First Race
in the first game of the season, Glynis Sim The UBC Thunderbirds won the title at the 2022 U Sports XC in Halifax on Saturday. Jessie LaCourse From Laval Rouge et Or, who has won the last seven races before heading to the championship.

The 24-year-old Sim, who finished 21st in U-Sport in 2021, had been sidelined with injury for the past two months and it wasn’t clear he would return in this form. Sim said he was in the lead pack of 12 runners as he made his way to the 6km mark and went with LaCourse as he made the final push. The two runners battled it out in his last kilometer, but mid-distance specialist Sim won the 8K race in 28:19.
LaCourse found itself U Sports XC podium againwon the silver medal in 28:31 and helped her Rouge et Or team win their second consecutive women’s team title with 49 points. Canadian West Conference champion, Kiana Gibsonfinished third in 28:54.
The team’s championship came closest to a margin with Raval beating UBC by just one point. UBC has landed on his Uhi sports podium of silver with 50 points after his 4th place finish in 2021. Sadie Jane Hickson’s 4th place overall, bronze medal with 93 points.
