Priscilla Presley has given her approval to the film after seeing a new biography, “Elvis,” about Baz Luhrmann’s late ex-husband.
After watching the film in a private screening with Jerry Schilling (former husband’s longtime bodyguard), Presley shared the impression of the new film, with Austin Butler as the prestigious rock and roll king and Tom Hanks as the singer’s controversy. Starring as a manager, Colonel Tom Parker.

“Austin Butler, who played Elvis, is outstanding,” she added. “Jerry and I saw each other in the middle of the movie and it was amazing! Bravo to him … he knew he had big shoes to meet. He was very nervous to play this role. I could only imagine.
Presley also appreciated Hanks. “Tom Hanks was Colonel Parker in this movie. What a character he was. There are two sides to him, and Jerry and I witnessed both,” she continued.
“As we all know, this story has no happy ending,” she concludes. “But I hope you’ll understand a little more about Elvis’ journey, written by the director who spent hours with his heart and soul in this film.”
