Princeton RCMP investigates incident involving hospital doctor

Few details are available about the recent alleged altercation at Princeton General Hospital, in which one of the doctors underwent emergency surgery.

Princeton Mayor Spencer Coyne expressed his own distress about the incident on social media Monday, Aug. 15, after speaking with doctors.

In a post on the municipality’s Facebook page, Coyne expressed his sadness and disappointment.

“I would like to take this opportunity to remind our community that we need to be kind to one another. I’m having trouble keeping the open.

“Staff and doctors are not responsible for policies with which you may or may not agree. must be maintained.”

Princeton RCMP Sergeant Rob Hughes said the matter could not be discussed, but confirmed an investigation was underway.

“This matter is under investigation. To maintain the integrity of the investigation, all comments we can make until the investigation has been forwarded to trial counsel for evaluation.”

An Interior Health media representative told Spotlight that the incident “has nothing to do with Interior Health staff or services.” A spokesperson has since promised to investigate the matter further. .

Spotlight also reached out to members of Support our Health Care, but a representative for the BC Rural Health Network declined to comment.
