Portia de Rossi talks about the emotional moment she came up with her grandmother after she started dating Ellen DeGeneres over 17 years ago.

Portia de Rossi tells a moving story, including meeting her grandmother at the Ellen DeGeneres Show on Tuesday.

De Rossi and DeGeneres talk about being together for over 17 years, and the actress of “Arrested Development” recalls seeing the first episode of the 2003 “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.”

DeGeneres urges his wife to talk about coming out to her grandmother, who was 99 at the time.

She says: [the sitcom] “Ellen” didn’t miss an episode until the episode she came up with. Now I know I’m gay at this point, I love my grandma. The moment Ellen came out, she refused to watch the show. In fact, if the show’s commercials show, she’ll change channels and say “that nasty woman.” That wasn’t a good omen for me. “

De Rossi moved to LA and joined DeGeneres. Then she returned to Australia, where Grandma asked her if she was seeing a special person.
