Rock star Nickelback, born in Hannah, Alberta, will be inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame as part of the 2023 Juno Awards on March 13 in Edmonton.

The Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS) made the announcement at a press conference in Edmonton on Monday.

Formed in 1995, the band has won 12 Juno Awards since winning Best New Group in 2001.
Nickelback guitarist Ryan Peake said in a previous interview, “It’s great to remember your roots and where we grew up.
Nickelback has worked with Oscar Peterson, Rush, The Tribal Hip, kd Lang, Leonard Cohen, Neil Young, Jan Arden, Buffy St. Marie and, since the establishment of the Canadian Music Hall of Fame in 1978, Join the dozens who have been inducted into the Hall of Fame. It is housed at the National Music Center in Calgary. After Junos, a new exhibition dedicated to the band will be launched.
“Considering where that and that intention comes from, it’s very flattering and very kind that they even consider us among everyone else,” Peake said. “I compare it to everyone out there and everyone that people look up to as Canadian musicians and songwriters. “We just don’t feel old enough,” added vocalist/guitarist Chad Kroeger. “Why do we feel like we are not old enough to get this? I find it difficult: You are among your peers and you think many of them are great artists and songwriters…in your career.”
The band has sold over 50 million records and produced hits for Photograph, Someday, Rockstar and more. That latest album, Get Rollin’, will be released on his November 18th.
CARAS also announced Monday that Nickelback will be appearing at Junos, as will Calgary-born pop star Tate McRae.

Junos will also present Alberta-born concert promoter, manager and philanthropist Ron Sakamoto with the Walt Grearis Distinguished Achievement Award. The award is presented annually and recognizes players behind the industry who have “made a significant impact on the growth and development of the Canadian music industry”.
Born in Caldale, Alberta, Sakamoto is best known for his work with country music artists such as Shania Twain, Johnny Reed, Washboard Union and Keith Urban. Sakamoto and partner Paul Biro opened Sakamoto Agency in 2013. The award will be presented at the JUNO Opening Night Awards on March 11th.
