A 44-year-old man faces charges of attempted robbery and assault after hitting woman
A 44-year-old Penticton man was arrested Wednesday after assaulting a woman with a super wash and attempting to steal her car.
Police said the woman was washing the SUV when she saw the man get into the driver’s seat and try to start the car.
After confronting the woman, local criminals attacked her by pushing and hitting her in the head before fleeing on foot through an alleyway.
The Penticton RCMP flooded the area by the Super Wash on Main Street at 11:36 a.m., and police service dogs secured the tracks and placed the 44-year-old suspect a short distance away.
The man was arrested and charged with assault and attempted robbery.
He has been conditionally released from prison and is scheduled to appear in court on January 23, 2023.
“This incident could have gone much worse,” said South Okanagan RCMP Sergeant. Jason Vida.
Police said the woman left the scene unharmed.
