Independent investigation launched after BC woman died in police shooting
Surrey, BC – British Columbia’s independent police watchdog has launched an investigation after a woman died in a police shooting in North Vancouver.
The RCMP reportedly answered a call on Saturday night from a woman who allegedly attempted to harm another person at her North Vancouver residence, according to the Independent Investigation Bureau.
Police also reported that a woman believed to be the same person broke into another residence, the office said in a statement.
The IIO says an interaction occurred and police opened fire.
Paramedics rushed to the scene and took the woman to hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
The IIO is asking people who may have information about the incident, dash cams, or video footage to contact the Witness Line.
